Udupi: The Udupi district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat staged a protest in front of the service bus stand here on July 21, Saturday urging government to introduce a uniform education policy.
The Parishat has also opposed the government moves to introduce English medium in Kannada schools from Class VI.
Neelavara Surendra Rao, District Sahitya Parishat President, who addressed the agitators, strongly contended that English should be taught right from class one in government schools.
Others who took part in the agitation were Valerian Menezes, Aroor Timmappa Poojari, Mamatha Kadiyali and Subrahamanya Basri.
The agitators even forwarded a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
