Mangalore: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash has called upon officials to give top priority to redress water related problems at the earliest, considering the less rainfall which the district received this year so far when compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Zilla Panchayat Executive Engineer Satyanarayana said as many as 42 water projects in rural areas at a total estimated cost of Rs 575 crores, have been proposed. Officials also informed the meeting that 219 vented dams are to be constructed during this year out of which 82 dams have been completed. If works on 72 are still in progress, 28 more projects are yet to start.
