Puttur: Former Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty has said that the arrival of Anitha Kumaraswamy to the Varamahalakshmi Pooja arranged by Samarpana Mahila Vedike on July 27 has nothing to do with her joining the JD(S).

Shetty said had she wished to join JD(S) then she would have done so when Kumaraswamy had visited her residence some time back. She also called upon the media and public not to give a political colour to religious programmes.

Speaking at a press meet convened to give details regarding the pooja, she said she would be contesting the next elections but refused to divulge the party from which she would contest. She said she cannot reveal her decision as of now regarding joining any party.

Stating that political polarization has begun and added though she was not in active politics for the past four years, the media has always kept her in limelight.

She said she still has among her supporters some BJP workers who were with her while she was the MLA but had not sought any favours from her and added she would not take any political decision without consulting her followers.
