Bangalore:Opposition leader in Bangalore Rural Zilla Panchayat and JDS) member Binnamangala Krishnappa alias BML Krishnappa (58) was brutally hacked to death by the accomplices of notorious rowdy Bettanagere Seena  near Arishinakunte near Nelamangala on Wednesday night.

Even one of the assailants was killed when Krishnappa’s body guards opened fire at the assailants. His car driver, body guards and a few supporters have been seriously injured in the incident .

The incident took place when Krishnappa along with his supporters  was returning to his town of Binnamangala in three cars after taking part in a JD(S) meeting in the city. It  is learnt, their vehicles were intercepted by over 40 associates of Seena in tempo, canter and cars. They deliberately collided a canter against Krishnappa’s car and when Krishnappa tried to get out of the car and escape, he was brutally hacked to death.

Soon after the incident, agitated supporters  of Krishnappa resorted to violence and stoned several KSRTC buses and vehicles disrupting traffic on the Tumkur road. Some buses too were set on fire and the police had to resort to a lathi charge to quell the mob.

Krishnappa who was a ZP member from T Begur constituency was initially in the Congress and had joined the JD(S) just a few years ago. He was provided with security personnel after an attempt was made on his life in 2010. It is believed that Seena and his men killed Krishnappa just because he was financing Bettanagere Shanker, another notorious rowdy who was an enemy of Bettanagere Seena who was released on bail just a year ago.
