Mangalore: The Lions Club in association with the Centre for Integrated Learning, and the DK District Ex Servicemen’s Association jointly organized a one-day Inter School Workshop on Patriotism and National Pride as a part of Kargil Vijay Divas at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte on July 26, Thursday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, M. B. Sadashiv, governor of Lions Club, the government has sanctioned altogether 29 national holidays for all the festivals and other national leaders birthday anniversaries, but not a single government holiday is dedicated in honor of soldiers who fought for the country. But the district has made proud by observing Kargil Vijay Divas every year, he said.
M. B. Sadashiv also released the Kargil Vijay Divas poster.
Colonel N. S. Bhandary in his presidential address briefed on the Kargil War and said about the problems faced by the soldiers in the situation. He also said that patriotism is not only shown by fighting for the country, but also can be rendered by respecting anthem, bird, animal, and emblem.
The associations honoured Sergeant S. M. Iron on this occasion. An interactive session also comprised as a part of the workshop.
