Mangalore: Yuga Purusha Ko.Aa Udupa memorial programme was held at Yugapurusha Auditorium at Kinnigoli recently on the occasion of the 20th death anniversary of Udupa. Laxminarayana Asranna, Chief Priest of Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel inaugurated the programme
Speaking as a chief guest, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel hailed Udupa as a great personality who patronized art literature and culture.
On this occasion, eminent writer from Bangalore MV Bhat known as Shree Mittoor was conferred with the ‘Ko Aa Udupa Award.’ Brahmashree B Krishnamurti Samaga, Priest of Vasuki Anantapadmanabha Temple, Badagupete, Udupi, was also honoured.
The ‘Ko Aa Udupa’ memorial lecture was delivered on the occasion by veteran writer Sumukhananda Jalavalli.The books published by Yugapurusha Prakashana were released by Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor and litterateur K G Mallya.Scholarships sponsored by Ramachandra Bhat and Aroor Laxmi Rao, were distributed to talented students.
K Anand of Udayavani Kannada daily and Daijiworld Weekly editor Hemacharya were the chief guests. Authors Sridar D S, Aditya Prasad Pandelu and Ka Li Rai Dharwad, Yugapurusha advisor Dr Nayanabhirama Udupa, A P Satish Rao,Yugapurusha editor-in-chief and publisher Bhuvanabhirama and others were present.
A Yakshagana ‘Sri Krishna Garudi Hagu Rani Swayamprabha’ was performed by noted artistes on the occasion.
