Malpe: Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has assured a delegation of fishermen which met him to take a suitable decision in the days to come on the government orders pertaining to the capacity of engines to be installed to fishing boats.
On Thursday, the delegation of the Malpe Fishermen’s Association met the CM in Bangalore and submitted a memorandum to him. He said the already enforced rules would be in vogue until further orders.
It may be recalled here that the government had issued a notification banning installation of engines above 250 horse power capacity to fishing boats after fixing the capacity of engines to different mechanized boats. The fishermen had also been given time of six months to change the engines lest diesel subsidy would stand cancelled.
