Mangalore: The Popular Front of India which has expressed its grave concern over the communal disturbances in Assam, has urged the Centre to intervene and settle the issue.

In a press communiqué, KM Sharief, General Secretary of PFI said the failure of the state government to provide protection to all sections of the society has led to the incident and added  there has been a breakdown in law and order in the districts where violence has erupted.

He urged the Centre to ensure steps to provide shelter to the people who were rendered homeless in the clashes.
