Mangalore: Vehicular traffic on the Uppinangady-Kadaba-Subrahamanya Road was disrupted on Friday, July 28 after the Hosamutt Bridge submerged following rise in water level in Gundya River.
Water in the bridge rose to six feet and police have been deployed to prevent entry of vehicles into the bridge.
The overflowing Gundya river has led to inflow of water into arecanut plantations in Hosamutta, Ulipu and other places. With the heavy rains lashing catchment areas, Kumaradhara and Netravati rivers too are overflowing. Nethravati has reached danger level at few places. Even the bathing ghat at Subrahamanya is overflowing inconveniencing devotees who want to take a holy dip.
Even traffic on the Bangalore-Mangalore national highway was affected due to landslides in at least ten locations on the Shiradi Ghat stretch following heavy rains.
