Udupi: An ancient inscription of the Vijayanagara times has been found at Saligrama in Udupi taluk, informs Prof. T Murugeshi, Professor in History and Archaeology of MSRS College, Shirva.
This inscription of about 29 lines is in Kannada script and language. If the left and right portions of the inscription are worn out, only the words inscribed at the Centre can be read. Some of the writings in the inscription can be read as ‘Rajadhiraja Raja Parameshwara,’ ‘Rayara Ganda Shree Veera Hariha’ etc.
The inscription has been preserved at Bhandarkar’s College, Kundapur.
