Mangalore: JR Lobo who joined the Congress at a formal ceremony held at the party office on Saturday, has said that he decided to join the Congress after being impressed by the good works done by the party for the poor and the underprivileged sections of the society.
Speaking to reporters, he said he would continue to work as an ordinary party worker with the same sincerity with which he has handled administrative posts as a government officer.
He also clarified that he did not intend at gaining any position in the Congress.
District Congress President B Ramanatha Rai who spoke on the occasion, said Lobo has decided to join the Congress after sacrificing his government job and added he had been a Congressman in the past.
Mayor Gulzar Banu, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, and Ivan D’Souza were present at the press meet.
