Mangalore: Fishermen across the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts worshipped the sea by offering Samudra Pooja to the Sea God. The fishermen offered milk to the sea seeking its blessings. The Mangalore Yelu Patna Mogaveera Mahasabha organized a mass “samudra puja” at Tannirbavi praying for a better and safe fishing season.
Prior to Samudra Pooja, a Shobha Yatra was taken out from Bokkapatna Jai Hind Yuvaka Mandala to Sultan Bathery via Bolur. Later, the yatra The participants later were ferried to Tannirbavi where the Samudra Pooja was offered. The rituals were performed in the presence of Sri Raja Sandhyanathaji from Kadali Mutt in Kadri.
In Udupi: In Udupi, Samudra Pooja was offered at Udyavara Padukere by a number of fishermen. Earlier, special pooja was offered at the Vadabhanda Balaram Temple and Bobbarya Daivasthana. Fishermen offered milk, tender coconuts to the sea.
