Mangalore: The heavy rains that have been lashing Mangalore since the past few days has caused damages to several houses. In Hoigebailu in Ashoknagar area, the wall of a kutcha house belonging to Yashoda Devadiga collapsed. However, no one injured. Corporator Amitha kala had visited the spot and assured financial help to the economically poor family. The loss was put in excess of Rs 1.5 lakh.
In yet another incident, the collapse of a compound wall at Mannagudda resulted in damage to the compound wall of nearby houses. Vittla recorded 150 mm of rainfall 3 am, whereas an hour before 129.5mm of rainfall was recorded at Vittla. Sullia and Puttur recorded 100 mm and 102 mm of rainfall.
Sullia and Puttur recorded high rainfall at 125 mm and 104.4 till 8.30 am on Thursday; Bantwal (75.5); Belthangady (80.8), Uppinangady (72.4); Bajpe airport (55.6) and Mangalore recorded 90.8 mm of rainfall.The water level at Nethravathi River near Bantwal was 5.5 mts, while the water level stood at 8.1 meters nearly a day ago.
