Udupi :  With several low lying areas in Udupi district inundated  due to heavy rains, schools all over the district remained closed even on Saturday, August 11. The heavy rains have disrupted normal life in several places including Bennekudru, Kalavinabagilu, Havanje, Heroor, Uppoor and other places.

In Uppoor, several boats have been kept ready in case of emergency. A hanging bridge in Heroor has been washed away in the rains. Reports say as many as four families have been evacuated from Havanje. A house belonging to Kamala Kanchan  in Yenagudde  was damaged after a coconut tree fell over the house. . Over 20 have been inundated in Matadakudru, Udyavar

Four families in Havanje were shifted to a safer place. A coconut tree fell on a house belonging to Kamala Kanchan in Yenagudde resulting in loss of Rs 50,000. Karkala too has been experiencing very heavy rains.
