Mangalore: The Mangalore City Corporation has banned production, sale and use of plastic flags this Independence Day keeping in mind the ecological impacts of plastic.
The MCC circular while pointing out how plastic flags are manufactured, used and then discarded haphazardly posing environmental problems, also said such acts are in violation of the Indian Flag Code of 2002. The MCC administration has also said that handmade plastic flags can be used instead but at the same time there should be no violation of the Flag Code.
