Mangalore : A mass campaign against the recent home stay attack in Mangalore, jointly organized by Jaago Mangalore and Arise Mangalore, begins in Mangalore on August 16, Thursday. The campaign will end with a protest march on August 21, informed Vijayanath Shetty, chief co-ordinator of Jaago Mangalore Association.
A road show will be held at the DC office at 5.30 pm on August 16. Candles will be lit and video clippings of messages from eminent people will be projected on LCD screens.
Similar programmes will be held at different junctions in Mangalore during the course of the campaign, he informed. The Protest March of August 21 will be taken out from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan, where eminent personalities will address the gathering. This protest is part of Jaago Mangalore Association’s broad based campaign ‘Let’s make Mangalore a better place to live.’
Vijaynath Shetty described the unprovoked attack on teenage boys and girls at Padil as a deplorable blot on our democratic values which are enshrined in our Constitution.
The five day road show from 16 to 20 August will be organized by eminent advocate and activist Dinesh Hegde Ulepady.
Protesters have been requested to wear a ‘Gandhi Cap’, a ‘Black Band’ and carry a ‘torch’ during the protest march on 21 August 2012 to signify this peaceful protest.
