Mangalore : Ramesh K, State Secretary of the ABVP has attributed the recent violence in Assam to the conspiracy of the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on August 22, Wednesday, he said  there were several instances to prove that the illegal infiltrants from Bangladesh were involved in anti-national activities.

They have forcibly encroached lands in Assam and northern north eastern states and have disturbed peace and harmony there, he said.

He further added that the Centre has failed to tackle the problem despite the ABVP repeatedly drawing its attention towards the problem. He said the ABVP had in the year 2008 conducted a survey  of states bordering Bangladesh and had submitted the report to the then PM and President. Yathish Kumar P., city secretary of ABVP was also present at the press
