Belthangady: The famous Surya Sri Sadashiva Rudra Temple near Ujire has been burgled on the night of August 21, Tuesday. Thieves have fled with a cash of about Rs 90,000 and gold weighing 88 grams valued at Rs 3.5 lakhs.
The thieves, it is leant, gained entry into the temple through its northern doors and stole the cash and valuables stored in a cupboard after breaking it open.
The stolen goods include a rudraksh garland weighing 32 grams, a gold item weighing 32 grams, a bangle and a small circle garland weighing 8 grams each and karimani.
Reports say the siren installed at the temple was out of order since a week and even the CCTV works installation works were underway in the temple.
Even the theft case in the temple six years ago, has remained unresolved till date.
Investigations are in progress.
