Udupi: The Kudremukh reserve forest issue was discussed at the general body meeting of the Zilla Panchayat held at Rajathadri on August 28, Tuesday.
Addressing the members, MLA Gopal Bhandary said that Kudremukh reserve forest proposal has been withdrawn.
The BJP leaders like Uday Kotian and Mamata Adhikari urged the concerned authorities to investigate the person behind spreading the rumour of rehabilitation for the families from certain parts of Karkal. But the congress leader, Manjunath Poojary blamed BJP for spreading false news.
The members also said that it is necessary to add or remove the names of the person from the ration card to avoid problems in it.
The leaders also urged the authorities to permit the corporators to construct fence around the ponds and farm tanks, since large number of children and youths have lost their life.
They also discussed the issue on the regional office premises to be transferred from Siddapur to Vanse, Mamata K Shetty expressd unsatisfaction for the proposal.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Prasad Chandra Shetty, Minister of Ports and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary, Zilla Panchayat president Katapady Shankar Poojary, vice president Jyothi Seetharam Shetty, CEO Prabhakar Sharma and others were present.
