Kannur: The LPG tanker exposition which took place at Chala near here recently has claimed a total of 14 lives so far. The total losses have been estimated at Rs 5 crore. Nearly 46 shops, 40 houses and 11 vehicles suffered damages due to the explosion.
The dead include three couples and four siblings. The condition of seven injured is said to be critical The Kerala Government has already announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh for the injured. The vehicle driver who was absconding since the mishap took place, surrendered to the police on August 31, Friday.
Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy has already visited the spot of the mishap twice.
