Mangalore : State PWD Minister C. M. Udasi said that state government has sanctioned the amount of Rs 53 crore for the judiciary infrastructure development, apart from the fund of Rs 26 crore allocated for judges accommodation.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for Vakeel Bhavan near the court premises on September 1, Saturday.
The Vakeel Bhavan will comprise of 5 stories with a general auditorium, a women’s auditorium, changing rooms and toilets, a library, a canteen, a car parking facility, and a incline connecting bhavan and court.
Former chief minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda, said that state government has taken measures to form law commissions, sanction grants to law colleges, introduce family courts, store all laws in one CD and other facilities and this projects worth Rs. 160 crore is in progress.
He also said that the state government has also planned for an e-library for the Mangalore Bar Council.
Deputy speaker of the legislative assembly N. Yogish Bhat, said that the new court complex will be inaugurated in four months and the Vakeel Bhavan will be established in one year.
Justice Dr. K. Bhaktavatsal of Karnataka High Court, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Justice K. L. Manjunath, Karnataka State Additional Advocate General K. M. Nataraj, DK District Chief Sessions Judge Ashok G. Nijaganavar, MLC Monappa Bhandary, and Mangalore Bar Council President Dr. S. P. Chengappa were present.
