Udupi:-Deputy Chief Minister and State BJP President KS Eshwarappa has promised that the state government would do its level best to solve the power problems of the coastal region.
Presiding over a progress review meet on September 1, Saturday, he said attention would also be given to solve some persistent problems like sea erosion during monsoons. He also directed the district officials to ensure adequate compensation to those who suffered loss of crops and property during heavy rains.
Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde pointed out to the increasing cases of children getting drowned in culverts and percolation ponds in the district and demanded that the district administration should take steps to close down the ponds or erect fencings.
Gopal Bhandary, Raghupathi Bhat, Legislators, Deputy Commissioner MT Reju also spoke on the occasion,
On sea erosion, DC Dr Reju said that the district administration can only provided partial compensation to the affected and that it cannot afford to bear the entire amount.
