Mangalore : The Karavali Sauhardha Sangharsha Samithi, a joint organization with the CPI (M), the JD (S), and the Congress, organize a massive protest rally and demonstration against moral policing on September 4, Tuesday.
The members and supporters of the organization organized a massive rally from Jyothi Circle to DC Office. The protestors condemned the attack on youth by Hindu Janajagarana Vedike (HJV) activists in Padil’s Morning Mist Home Stay on July 28.
Addressing the protestors at a protest meeting in front of DC Office, B Madhava, general secretary of the committee said that the assailants of Hindu Jagarana Vedike in the name of protecting the culture has attacked the young girls and misbehaved with them, which is against the culture.
He also said that the police have arrested some of the attackers, but still they have failed to arrested the rest involved in this crime. Goons and anti-social elements cannot infringe on the freedom of youth, and will be hit back on the spot if such attacks on youths continue. We will not give up our fight till the Goonda Act is invoked against Subash Padil, who led the team of attackers in Padil, he warned.
Samithi President Ramanth Rai said that the district has been witnessing several anti-social incidents like home stay attack, pub attack, church attack in the recent years. These incidents have severely affected the students from faraway places who arrive at the district for education purpose.
He also said that police department is mainly responsible for this attacked who termed a birthday party into rave party for this incident. The goonda act must be imposed on these and all the accied must be arrested, he added.Writer Chandrakala Nandavar said that DK is the district of intelligent people and suh incident have left a black spot on the district forever.
She also said that let these moral police be appointed in the police department so that they can directly conduct such attacks. The parents of students are quiet responsible to take care of them and do not need the help of these attackers to rule them, she added.
Speaking on the occasion, JD (S) State Secretary M. G. Hegde said that the recent home stay attack has affected not only the educational and economic status of the district, but also its future as a tourist hotspot.
