Mangalore : Saffronisation has made inroads into educational institutions without the knowledge of the students and teachers, said Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, Member of the Patyapustakagala Kesarikarana Virodhi Horata Samiti (PKVHS). He said the Committee would be holding a day long seminar on “Patyapustakagala Kesarikarana Mathu Hatthikkalpatta Damanitara Dani”, on September 16 at Loyalla hall, Kodialbail.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on September 14, Friday, he said a survey conducted by experts has revealed that the V standard social studies text books contain lessons of 54 temples and Mutts from page 6 to 23, five mosques and three churches.
They have also mentioned the Keladi Nayaka Kingdom as the guardians of Hindu religion. No rules of the NCF 2005 nor DSERT guidelines have been followed while printing the books, he alleged.
He says the in the Punyakoti lesson in Hindi for Class VII, the entire meaning of the story has been twisted and added in some other text books of class eight too facts have been twisted. The text books highlight building of a Hindu nation which is a dangerous sign considering the future of students, he warned.
He alleged that the present textbooks sow the seeds of communal disharmony between the students.
PKVHS members Nigel Pereira, Leena Fernandes, Walter Maben, Victor D’Silva, Alwyn Colaco and Mohammed Kakkinje were also present.
