Mangalore: The Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust organised a function at the Loyola Hall of St Aloysius College on September 21, Friday, to distribute uniforms to members of self help groups functioning under the Trust. Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member and senior Congress leader, inaugurated the function. The Trust aims to distribute two lakh uniforms this time.
Speaking on the occasion, Oscar highlighted the role of self-help groups in empowering women economically by encouraging them to save as well as reap benefits.
MN Rajendra Kumar,SCDCC Bank Chairman and President of Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust, who presided over the function, said his longstanding vision has been realized on this day when nearly two lakh members of self help groups are being provided uniforms.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP of Dakshina Kannada, was also present as a chief guest. Rajendra Kumar honoured Oscar and Nalin on the occasion.
Rohan Monteiro, Managing Director of Property Infra Tech and a member of Navodaya Trust, was also honoured on the occasion.
S M Bhaskar, Vadiraj , Radha Krishna Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajjagoli, Vinay Kumar Surrinje, Gopal Krishna Bhat, Sudarshan, Poornima Shetty, Chief Secretary of Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust and others were present on the occasion.
