Belthangady: The eighth Karnataka Regional Catholic Youth Convention ‘Yuvajanotsava – 2012’ was inaugurated at the Holy Redeemer Church premises at Belthangady on September 29, Friday by Fr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary. Thousands of youth took part in the society. The theme of the convention is Transformed by Faith-Transforming the World.”
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Henry D’Souza called upon the youth to be instruments of change for good in the society.
Rev Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Belthangady, spoke on the objectives of the convention. Fr Faustine Lobo, national director of Pontifical Mission Societies delivered the key note address.
Fr Franklin D’Souza, National Secretary of CBCI youth office and Rev Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Bishop of Puttur shared the dais.
Rev Lawrence Mukkazhy hoisted the flag. This was followed by a grand eucharistic mass.
Over 1,500 representatives and members of Bosco Youth, AICUF, Jesus Youth, ICYM and MSYS from around 750 parishes are taking part in the three day convention.
