Mangalore: Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar who spoke to reporters at the Mangalore Airport enroute Udupi, has said his request to the union ministers hailing from the state, was to apprise the Centre on the plight of the state and its people who are reeling under drought conditions. By saying so, the CM hinted that the state’s representatives in the Union Cabinet namely SM Krishna, Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjun Kharge and Muniappa had virtually failed in highlighting the problems of their states.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister defended the act of the state government in releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu and said the government had no other option but to abide by the SC ruling.
He also stated that the State’s appeal to the Prime Minister and Cauvery River Authority to review its decision, has not been responded to.
Deputy Speaker N. Yogish Bhat, ZP President Shailaja Bhat, District BJP President Padmanabha Kottari, MLAs Lalaji Mendon and Krishna J.Palemar were also present.
