Belthangady : State Minister for Health Aravinda Limbavali visited the temporary rehabilitation camp for Endosulfan victims at Kokkada on October 3, Wednesday and met a number of Endosulfan victims as well as their families and heard their grievances.
Later, speaking to reporters, Limbavali said the survey to identify Endosulfan affected people in the district will begin on October 10 and that a committee headed by DC and District Medical Officer would be constituted for the purpose.
He also promised that the government would not delay the process of distribution of compensation to Endosulfan victims once the committee submits its report.
He further said a permanent rehabilitation centre for Endosulfan affected people would come up at Alankar and a five acre land has already been identified for the purpose.
He also assured government assistance to engage the families of the endosulfan affected people in self-employment.
Sridhar Gowda, who is visually impaired and who has been fighting for the cause of endosulfan victims, said experts should be included in the committee.
Deputy Commissioner N S Channappa Gowda, BJP leader Prathap Sinha Nayak and others were present.
