Udupi:  The unidentified bodies of a woman and a teenaged girl has been found at St Mary’s Island on the afternoon of October 8, Monday. It is suspected that the dead are a mother and a a daughter.

Police suspect this to be a case of suicide. If the age of the woman is estimated at 40 the girl is believed to be 14 years old.

Eyewitnesses said the two had hired a tourist boat on October 8 Monday from the fishing jetty to the St Mary’s. After a few hours when the boatman returned to pick them up, they were not found and the bodies later found near the rocks. It is suspected that they had come there with an intention of ending lives.

The bodies have been sent to Manipal hospital for post mortem. Investigations are under progress.
