Belthangady: Reports reveal that the police who are investigating into the case of rape and murder of Sowjanya, a student of SDM College, Ujire, have arrested a youth on October 11, Thursday.

The arrested is Santosh Bajagoli of Karkala. Reliable sources reveal that he is learnt to have admitted to having killed Sojanya.

Meanwhile, reports say locals gathering hint of the arrest of the accused, intercepted the police jeep and demanded  that the arrested be handed over to them. Hundreds even gathered outside the local police station demanding that they will punish the accused. The police had to later wield lathis to control the mob. One person is learnt to have been injured.

The KSRP force has been deployed in Dharmasthala area in order to avert untoward incidents.
