Mangalore: Students of Karnataka polytechnic college and other colleges led by Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at KPT Circle, to condemn the rape and murder of 17-year-old Sowjanya and demand quick action in the case on October 12, Friday.

The activists demanded arrest of the culprits and stringent punishment, the protestors formed a human chain around KPT Circle.

They strongly condemned the incident and said that it is a matter of shame to the civilized society.

The ABVP also demanded safety of girls so that such incidents do not occur again.

They said that the case should not be closed due to lack of evidence and not to be neglected  like any ordinary case.

The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner on the occasion.
