Mangalore : The 13th annual Goodu Deepa competition organized by Namma Kudla Channel will be held at Kudroli Gokarananatha Temple on November 10, Saturday.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Nov 3, Saturday programme co-ordinator Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, said that the competition will be held in 3 categories—traditional, modern, and unique and that a gold medal will be awarded to the winners of the first and the second prize in each category. 10 Consolation prizes will also be awarded for each category. Apart from it 5 special prizes will be given in each category for the first time, he added.
The participants for the competition have to register their names in the venue on the same day and have to take their prepared or goodu deepa material at the venue at 4 pm. The organizers will only provide electricity required for the goodu deepa.
The prizes will be awarded at the valedictory ceremony, which will be held on the same day at 7:00 p.m.
On this occasion, the Namma Tuluver Award will be conferred on M N Rajendra Kumar, chairman of SCDCC Bank, the Namma Kudla 2011 Award will be conferred senior Folk Litterateur Bannanje Babu Amin, and the Bala Prathibe Award will be conferred on artiste Vibha Lakshmi Rai K.
As a part of event, various cultural programme will be held on the occasion. The entire event will be shown live on V4.
Director Mohan Karkera, Suresh Karkera, Harish Karkera and Prof M S Kotian were also present at the press meet.
