Mangalore : The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) organized a rally in front of the DC office in Mangalore on November 3, Saturday named “Students Voice For Unity and Peace.” The main objective of the rally was to free the college campuses from communalism.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Ronnie Prabhu, Assistant Bishop, Mangalore, said though religious awakening was good, fanaticism was not at all acceptable, Always give importance to issues of priority, he told the youth. He also exhorted students to respect each other’s religion.
Mohammed Azharuddin, President, SIO, said plurality must be accepted and that polarization would only divide the society.
Mohammed Kunhi, Manager, Shanthi Prakashana, Mangalore, Abdullah Javed, State President, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Ashfaq Ahmed Shareef, President of Karnataka unit of Students Islamic Organization and others were present on the occasion.
