Mangalore : Bhajrangdal activists have proved Good Samaritans to a minor girl by saving her from the clutches of a few misguided youngsters who had confined her in a room with an intention of sexually abusing her.
The incident took place at Edapadavu. It is learnt, a gang of seven kidnapped the girl hailing from Edapadavu from Ganjimutt on November 6, Tuesday. She was reportedly taken in an autorickshaw and confined in a room at Nittadi. Reports say the assailants had tried to outrage the modesty of the girl.
But for her luck, the incident came to the notice of Bhajrangal activists who with the assistance of locals, attacked the house. The police too were informed and all the seven are now behind bars. The arrested are identified as Nawaz of Nittade, Irshad of Addinje and Asif, the rickshaw driver, Tajuddin, Ibrahim, Muneer and Nawaz. Two autorickshaws and a bike have also been seized. The agitated locals have even damaged the autorickshaw.
It is learnt, the minor girl has confessed to the police that one of the kidnappers Irshad knew her mother and had stayed in her house on October 8 and had molested her mother and threatened to kill her. She also said Irshad was threatening her even in her school.
Police said the girl would be subject to medical investigation.
