Mangalore: An Union for Koraga Development Community organized a jatha as a part of ‘Koraga Bhoomi Habba’ on August 18, Wednesday.
Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation inaugurated the jatha by beating the drum. The member s of the Koraga Community presented their dance at the venue.
Speaking after inaugurating the jatha in front of Mangalore City Corporation, he said that Koragas were the original inhabitants of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. Further the meeting will be called next in order to discuss the fund to be released for the development of the community. The meeting will be held to organize new schemes to be implemented for the community in the presence of community president and leaders, he added.
The jatha will further conclude at Kodical and conduct the convention.
P Gokuldas, honourary president of an Union for Koraga Development Association inaugurated the convention at Kodical. Mrs Appi, Kodical distributed the sweets to the members on the occasion.
Susheela Nada, president and Balaraj, former president of the union addressed the gathering.
Later the members presented various entertainment programmes on the occasion.
