Puttur : There is a new twist to the mass murder of a family at Kakkur near Bettampady in Puttur, with the skeletal remains of the family head who was until now suspected to be the killer, found near the Kakkur forests on November 13, Tuesday.
Until now the suspicion was that the family head Venkatramana Bhat had escaped after murdering his wife Sandhya and three children Harigovind, Vinuta and Vedya.
The murder had created panic in the area and as Bhat was not to be seen when the murder came to light, the suspicion naturally turned towards him.
The skeletal remains of Bhat was found near the forest nearly one km away from the house. Even the spectacles, umbrella and other belongings of Bhat were found nearby
In case the Police confirm that Bhat had committed suicide, then the mass murder case would naturally be closed.
Soon after the murder came to light, it was alleged that Bhat had threatened his typist, one Vimala Naik who had come near his house. Later it was suspected that he might have fled to north OIndia.
Investigations are in progress.
