Udupi: Udupi District Minister and State Minister for Mujrai and Ports Kota Srinivas Poojari inaugurated the National Library Week 2012 celebrations held at the Central Library here on November 15, Thursday under the auspices of the Karnataka Government’s Public Library Division and the City Central Library.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojari said the state had 5597 public libraries and added the government has taken steps to open libraries in all gram panchayats. He also said the state had 15 mobile libraries.
Kiran Kumar, President of Udupi CMC, presided over the function. Bharathi Chandrashekhar, Vice President of Udupi CMC, Vasanthi Shetty, Municipal Commissioner and others were present.
Scholar Udyavar Madhavacharya gave a special lecture on the occasion.
Nalini GI, Udupi Central Library’s Librarian. Diwaker, Head of District Central Library were also present.
