Moodbidri : Nine eminent men were conferred the Alva’s Nudisiri -2012 Awards at the valedictory function of Alva’s Nudisiri, the three-day national level literary and cultural event at the Sundari Alva Campus at Vidyagiri The awards carried cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation and memento.
Those who received the award included Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Girish Kasaravalli, well-known Kannada film director, Dr G Siddalingaiah, eminent writer, Vaijayanthi Kashi, dancer, Dr Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamiji Sanehalli (Kannada culture), Dr C P Krishna Kumar (literature), Ramachandra Hegde Chittani (Yakshagana), Dr Vishnu Naik (Literature), Loka Shikshana Trust (publication) and Subhadramma Mansoor (theatre).
Thousands of literary and cultural enthusiasts took part in the tree day fest with the theme “Kannada Manassu: Janapara Chalavaligalu.” Seminars on various aspects pertaining to Kannada literary movement were organized as part of the event.
Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education and Cultural Foundation, Amarnath Shetty, former minister and others were present.
