Kasargod :The Kasargod sub-jail has been closed down following the recent jail break and escape by four under trials.  All the under trials hitherto lodged in the sub-jail have been shifted to Kannur central prison. This step has been taken to ensure that the services of the prison staff could be used to trace three of the absconding prisoners. One of the four who escaped was trapped within a few hours. The accused who was trapped was Mohammad Iqbal, wanted in two murder cases.

It may be recalled here that the under trials had escaped after grievously assaulting K Pavitran, the jail warden.

DGP (Prisons) Alexander Jacob has visited the prison  following the incident.

Meanwhile search for the escapees has been intensified. The DGP has directed that the services of all the sub-jail staff of Kasargod be used to trap the escapees.
