Mangalore: The much awaited two day Beach Festival organised at Ullal to commemorate the silver jubilee celebrations of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala, was inaugurated on November 24, Saturday by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. The name plaque of the new building of the Government Aided Mogaveera Higher Primary School of Ullal, was also inaugurated on the occasion by G Shanker of G Shanker Family Trust.
The ground floor of the school building was inaugurated by Jagadish Bolur, Managing Director of Yojaka Pvt Ltd, while the first floor was inaugurated by Lekshmi Kumaran, DGM of MRPL.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel appreciated the activities conducted by the Yuvaka Mandala since its inception. He congratulated the Yuvaka Mandala team for investing Rs one crore on the school building. He also said the beach fest would go a long way in promoting tourism.
Saalu Marada Timmakka, green champion, Harekala Hajabba, the orange seller who built schools in his village and Ullal Mohan Kumar, eminent dancer were presented Maruthi Sadhaka Awards on the occasion. The Maruthi Yuva Awards went to noted artist Vilas Nayak, Nihal Ullal, cricketer and Pratibha Shetty, agriculturist.
The silver jubilee souvenir was released by Subba Rao, Director (Production and Project) KIOCL Ltd. Ullal MLA UT Khader presided over the function. Yatish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach Development Project, Basil D’Souza, President of Ullal Town Panchayat Vedavathi, Headmistress of Ullal Mogaveera Higher Primary school were among others present on the occasion.
