Belthangady : Two little boys, aged 14 and 11 gave a tough time for the ANF personnel in Belthangady on November 28, when the latter on noticing two persons escaping and also a tent in a forest area at Kataje of Urbiligundi, initially suspected them to be Naxals.
Police found large number of plates, rice, chicken, wheat flour and other items in the tent and suspected that they were stored to be supplied to Naxals. ANF IGP Alok Kmar, Dakshina Kannada SP Abhishek Goel and other officials rushed to the spot. Even combing operations in Charmady, Neriya and other places were intensified.
Still the ANF officials had a doubt if actually it was a Naxal camp. Finally, the truth came out when Hasanabba of Charmadi Hotel informed that two boys were missing from the area since the past four days.
The children were found in the evening hiding in an Anganavadi toilet.They were Savad (14), son of Abdul Manaf and Johra, and resident of Charmadi Kundottu, and Salam (11), resident of Ujire TB Cross. It is learnt, the two boys had the habit of going away from home now and then and returning after a few days. This time, it is learnt, they had escaped with some goods belonging to neighbours and stored it in the forests.
During interrogations, they said they wanted to live in the forests.
