Udupi : KL Ashok, State General Secretary of the Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike has alleged that the police action of using the IPC sections only against Muslims and Dalits, while not registering even a single case against leaders like Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat and Bhajrangdal men who incite communal strife, was a clear indication of the fascist policies pursued by the state government.
He was addressing a protest organised at the Udupi SP office on November 30, Friday demanding the suspension of Hiriadka police inspector who was allegedly shielding the Bhajrangdal activists who had attacked Dalits.
The protest was organised by the Udupi district branch of the Karnataka St at Dalita Mahila okkoota.
He also alleged that even the police department has been saffronised.
Jayan Malpe, Distirct Convenor of Karnatkaa Dalita Sangharsha Samithi, G Rajashekhar, District President of Komu Sauharda Vedike, Phaniraj, noted thinker and several others spoke on the occasion.
A memorandum was submitted to the Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy through the SP seeking steps to prevent cases of atrocities on Dalits in the district.
