Mangalore : The multi-lingual carol singing contest- Christa Jayanthi Gaanalahari-2012, concluded at St Vincent Ferrer Church grounds, Valencia on December 2, Sunday. The carol contest was conducted in Konkani, Kannada and English. Over 700 participants took part in the event.
The first three winners in each categories walked away with a cash prize of Rs 15000, Rs 10000 and Rs 7000 respectively apart from trophies.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by BV Pinto, Karnataka High Court Judge. Among others present on the occasion were Stephen Mendes, Director of Western Institute of Technology, Elias Sanctis, NRI entrepreneur, Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, Parish Priest and Anil Lobo, President of Catholic Sabha.
The following are the winners : English carol contest : Rhythm of Love, CSI Kanthi Church, Jeppu and Mistletoes Mangalore. Kannada carol competition : CSI Kanthi Church, Jeppu, CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta and Holy Cross Church, Cordel. Konkani carol : Team Imperialz (R), Mangalore; Holy Cross Church, Cordel and Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail.
A variety of entertainment programmes were held on the occasion.
