Mangalore : Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat has said that a 30 km long ring road on Gujarat model would be constructed as part of the Mangala Corniche project.
He was speaking at a programme held in Mangalore under the aegis of MUDA on December 4, Tuesday. At the function 12 students of the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University, Ahmedabad made a power point presentation on the development of regions situated on the banks of river Nethravathi and Gurpura. The students had taken three months to prepare the report under the guidance of the University head.
Bhat said the project would be constructed under the Private Public Partnership model and that every step would be taken to see that the Coastal Regulation Zone rules were not affected.
MUDA Chairman S Ramesh who also spoke said details pertaining to the first phase of the report would be made public within a week. He also said the project is expected to cost nearly Rs 3500 crore to Rs 4000 crore. He said under the first phase Sultan Battery, Carstreet, old port and Morgansgate area would be developed.
Among others present on the occasion were N Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Banu, Mayor, Dr Harish Kumar, MCC Commissioner and PVK Rameshwar, Lecturer in CEPT University.
