Mangalore : The konkani language has the history of past many years and it needs to be developed, said Mandd Sobhann gurkaar Eric Ozario.
He was speaking at the Konkani Manyata Divas organized by Konkani Sangh at St Aloysius College on August 21, Saturday.
He also said that, Konkani is spoken by Hindus, Muslims and Christians and hence it is declares as a secular language. But at the present people of Konkani community use English language at their home and the younger generation are unaware of the original form of the language and speak ‘Konglish’.
Avina Mendonca, Konkani litterateur said that the young generation does not know the Konkani words; hence they must learn to frame sentences in Kannada which will help them to improve Konkani words and language.
Sevrin Pinto, Konkani Sangh president welcomed the gathering. Gladys Rego, Konkani litterateur and Nevil D’Souza, secretary of Konkani Sangh were present.
