Mangalore : Noted social worker, businessman Vijaynath Vittal Shetty has decided to join the Congress party. He will be inducted into the party at a formal ceremony to be held at Vamanjoor Kaikamba Junction near Polali Dwara on December 16. Shetty is also the Trustee of Shastavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple and the architect of its renovation.

The Congress convention will presided over by DCC President B Ramanatha Rai while senior leader like Veerappa Moily, Janardhan Poojari and Oscar Fernandes will participate. Along with Shetty, several other prominent men including Ullal Rai, former manager of Vijaya Bank and MM Hussain, former excise officer, will join the Congress.

Congress leaders PV Mohan, Ganesh Poojari, Abdul Sattar, Gerald Sequeira were present at the press meet.
