Mangalore: Papal Envoy to Ivory Coast and Indian Archbishop Rev Ambrose Madtha was laid to rest at the Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady on December 15, Saturday. It may be mentioned here that Fr Madtha died in a road accident at Ivory Coast on December 8.
Mangalore Bishop Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza offered tributes to Fr Madtha. Nuncio of India Most Rev Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio was the main celebrant at the ceremony.
Among a host of people and religious priests present on the occasion included Rev.Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, Charles Koffi Diby, Foreign Affairs Minister of Ivory Coast, Most Rev Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, Most Rev Oswald Lewis, Bishop of Jaipur and Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese. An 11 member delegation from Ivory Coast too attended the funeral.
