Mangalore : At least five theft cases have been reported from Bikarnakatta area in Mangalore on the night of December 17, Monday. If a Bhajana mandir was burgled and a donation box of a daivasthana broke open, three other shops in the area too were burgled.
That the thefts have taken in places close by the higjhway which remains busy till late night, has surprised locals.
If the thieves gained entry into the Sri Harihara Panduranga Vittala Bhajana Mandira, by using a pick axe, they have also broke open the locks of the donation box of Padau Megina Mane Shri Mundathya Dhoomavati Bunta and Parivara Daivagala Gadupadu Sthala, Kandettu.
Even the JMJ Stores was burgled and a cash of about Rs 1350 stolen apart from five T shirts. Though the thieves broke the shutters of Deeksha Fancy Store and the Fresh Look shop, they couldn’t steal anything as they could not open the glass doors of the shops.
Kankanady Rural police are conducting the investigations.
