Puttur: Thieves who broke into a house near Bannur Church on the night of December 24, Monday, have looted gold valuables worth Rs 10 lakhs.
The house belonged to one Prameela Gonsalves whose husband was employed in the Gulf. It is learnt, thieves broke into the house by breaking open the back door after Prameela and her daughter who attended the Christmas eve mass returned home and went to sleep
Sources also said Prameela had brought her jewels which were kept in the bank locker, the previous day itself to wear it for Christmas, but unfortunately she lost it the same night. Some NRI cheques have also been stolen by the thieves.
A dog squad and finger print experts are conducting the investigations. Puttur police have registered a case.
