Chikmagalur: State Minister for Higher Education and DK District in-charge Minister CT Ravi has alleged that injustice has been done to the Hindus in the Datta Peetha case.
Speaking after taking part in Shobhayatra, the minister said the fight to free Datta Peetha will continue and said it should be declared as Hindu Peetha. He also urged the Muslim brothers to voluntarily vacate the dargas at Baba Budangiri.
Bhajrangdal convenor Sooryanarayana said all grama devathas had taken part in the Shobha Yatra for the very first time and said this tradition will continue in the coming years.He also declared that politics will not be brought into the Datta Peetha row.
Shobha Yatra: As part of Datta Jayanthi celebrations, a colourful Shobha Yatra was taken out in the town from Kamadhenu Ganapathi Temple to Azad Park Circle. The Yatra passed through main roads of the town which were decked up for the event. The idol of Dattatreya was also part of the procession and was taken in a decorated vehicle. A tableaux of grama devathas was the special attractions.
Hundreds of devotees took part in the Yatra which even featured cultural troupes like Veeragase, Dollu Kunitha, Hallivadya, Somana Kunitha etc.
Tight police security had been maintained in the town to prevent any untoward incident.
